Expressionist Bluebells

My latest image is a bit experimental. I am delving into the world of expressionist art.

Expressionism is defined as : art in which the image of reality is distorted in order to make it expressive of the artist’s inner feelings or ideas.

I feel that all photographs should seek to express the inner feelings of the artist but in the case of expressionist art, distortion is employed as an artistic element.

With this image, i wanted to capture the pure joyfulness of an early Spring morning in a Surrey bluebell wood, that sense of relief from knowing that summer is on its way.

I used ICM (intentional camera movement) to blur the details leaving me with a vague woodland structure and all the colour, because for me, it is the colour that conveys the joy.

I hope you like it.
